In some patients with low back and hip pain, it is sacroiliac joint problems that cause these complaints. The sacroiliac joint is the joint between the sacrum bone and the pelvic bone. This joint pain can be seen after trauma, rheumatic diseases and degenerative diseases.
Diagnosis
After a physical examination, patients with sacroiliac joint pain should undergo magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to exclude concomitant conditions. These patients may sometimes require computed tomography (CT) imaging to evaluate the bony structures.
Treatment
In sacroiliac joint dysfunction, patients are injected using ultrasound or X-ray guidance. The purpose of this injection with local anesthesia is to reduce and relieve edema and pain by applying local anesthetic and corticosteroid drugs to the joint space.
